Patio screens in Dallas · Texas
City lots, stucco arches and pool patios.
Dallas inside the loop means tighter lots and older houses: a stucco arch off the kitchen, a covered patio by a pool, a neighbor close enough to wave to. Screens take the west sun off those patios and give some privacy back. We measure, make and install from Farmers Branch, about twenty minutes away.
The houses, and what suits them.
Stucco and brick, tile roofs and painted trim, single arched openings and covered patios that open straight onto a pool. One screen per opening, light fabric on the stucco so it reads as part of the house, mounted above the arch and covering it as a rectangle.

Light on light, dark for the view.
Light fabrics on stucco and painted brick; black where the opening faces the yard and the view is the point.

What Dallas homeowners ask us first.
Can a screen fit an arched opening?
It mounts above the arch and covers it as a rectangle when down, then disappears into its housing when up. The vine-covered arch in our gallery is a Dallas house.
Can screens go on a house that is already finished?
Yes, and most of our work is. The housing surface-mounts above the opening and the side tracks go on the face of the posts or jambs, with 120 V brought to the motor end. Recessed, hidden housings are for new construction, planned before the ceiling closes.
Can the patio be used in the winter?
Yes, with clear vinyl on the same track: it keeps out wind, rain and cold while you still see the yard. Many patios carry a sun screen and a vinyl screen on the same opening.
How long does it take?
Three to four weeks from the deposit to installation, most of it the screens being made to your measurements in Richardson. Installation is usually a day.

Guide · Motorized Screens · Dallas–Fort WorthThe Patio, Usable in August
A Dallas patio sits empty from June to September for three reasons — the afternoon sun, the insects, and the wind. Exterior screens answer all three, then come up out of sight when the evening turns pleasant.
Guide · Motorized Screens · Zip-Track & WindZipper-Track Screens and the Texas Wind
What holds a motorized screen in place when the wind comes up is the track. Here is how a zipper-track screen works, what it handles, and the honest limit — plus the sensor that raises it before a storm can do any harm.
Guide · Automation · ELAN, Control4 & SomfyScreens on the Same App as Your House
Because Outdoor Shades is a Blue Note A/V company, your patio screens do not have to live on a separate remote. They run on the same control system as the house — on a timeclock, a keypad, or the app you already use.
Guide · Pricing · One Written PriceWhat Patio Screens Cost, and What Sets the Price
We do not post a single price, because there is not one — each opening is measured and made for it. But the things that move the number are no mystery. Here is what sets the cost of patio screens, and how we quote it.
